Hello! My name is

MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY - Make it useful, make it beautiful, make it simple, make it ethical, and do tell the story. The essence of the story is an identity. Most of the problems in design are in not telling the story well, so stories must go back to the drawing board until the story is best told. Really listen for the essence of the client and what they want.
MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY - I believe that in the face of adversity we must sit and examine and then move forward toward a better future. We can only do this through examination of truth. I know that the human spirit is fragile but also powerful. I believe that we create our own life meaning based on our ideas and circumstances and and then in the choices we make and actions we pursue. I believe in honestly looking at truths to find best possible outcomes. MY EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY - When we keep learning we never exhaust ourselves. When we follow our passions through learning, we can create wonderful things and innovate. When we put our learning into practice over and over we can master the things we’ve learned. When we facilitate we become intimate with subject matter. When we design curriculum that best serves who we facilitate we can inspire the life long learning, and dreams of others. |
Hello! My name is Tahira Nusrat Karim and I am a creative designer and artist from Canada but with a mixed Indian and African heritage. I am passionate about art history, good story telling, different cultures, travel, design, education, aromatherapy, and nature. I also adore alpacas, elephants, and bright tropical fish. The beach is my favourite place in the world apart from Cusco, and will jump at a chance to swim in the wide open ocean.
I love all forms of art making, but most especially illustration and design.
As a creative designer and artist I work across many mediums including graphic design, illustration, painting, printmaking, photography and animation.
I was formally educated at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in animation - 2008. I also hold a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria - 2012 and a Diploma of Aromatherapy from Langara College - 2010. As a creative designer and artist my work is greatly influenced by my work in education and aromatherapy, so many of my projects centre around these areas.
I have taught art in Canada and Abroad from kindergarten to university level - most recently at Universidad Nacional de Arte Diego Quispe Tito, Bellas Artes, Cusco, Peru where I taught graphics and animation in 2016.
BFA - Bachelor of Fine Arts
BEd - Bachelor of Education
