Emotional Flowers and Fashion (2008)
I had grown up enjoying theatre and movies. I took drama in both middle and high school and participated in a few productions. I had also grown up loving and participating in performative dance and figure skating. Because of these actions and interests I also grew to enjoy clothing and costumes, and naturally while I was studying experimental animation with a vested interest in silhouettes and puppets, I began a few courses in fashion studies.
I was also studying medical aromatherapy at the time and became very interested in the psychological aspects of the oils and also in natural perfume blending. When I graduated with my bachelor of animation, I began an internship with an eco-friendly fashion designer from Vancouver. I loved the work, and had begun the creation of a portfolio to enter into a fashion related masters course.
My portfolio that I created at this time was one large series of dresses, perfumes, and perfumed jewelry. I taught myself to sew, designed 6 dresses and perfumes around the natural qualities of certain flowers and then proceeded to create 4 dresses and 6 perfumes along with some perfume necklaces, and a few photoshoots.
I then applied to become a part of the Textile Masters Program at the Chelsea University of the Arts in London England under the interest of imbibing clothes in strategic areas with mood enhancing perfumes. I got into the program and was due to start that fall.
Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, I deferred doing a masters for a number of years. Also unfortunately we were flooded in 2013 when I lost most all of my works. A few pictures still survive of this project, some which are shared below.
I still as can be seen have a great interest in perfumery, aromatherapy, fashion, and innovative ideas.
